Dear class mates, co-workers, others
Monday, March 31st, 2008
I’m writing this with my computer on a shiny antique-style mahogany table in an appartment in central San Francisco, California, USA. Above the cabinet, in the same style as the table, and containing a huge TV set and other multimedia, there’s a goldframed stillife of a set of white roses. The furnishings are accompanied by tiny statues of elephants, horses and chesspieces. The scene has a colonial feeling to it.
Well. I’ve spent a week in the city, walking around feeling jet-lagged among skyscrapers and fast moving cars. I keep on wondering why they’re in such a hurry. But I guess that’s how it is in the states - big and fast. I’ve also spent the week at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, in fact most of the week. The first day at GSP, Monday 24/3, my co-worker and fellow team member Crille Lampa and myself, were briefed on three huge projects: two for Adobe and one for HP, internal review the following Friday. So the week’s been quite busy for us.
Crille and I are one of four creative teams on the Adobe projects and I don’t even know how many creatives there are working on the HP project. On top of that, there are account persons, strategy persons and different kind of directors, so the meetings are pretty crowded. So, last Friday we had our first internal review on one of the Adobe projects with thirteen more people in the room. For the other Adobe project we had to come in on Sunday, that’s yesterday, to do the internal review. Then the creative directors narrowed it down to two ideas for all of us to focus on. So we are back in our four by three meters cubicle, scratching our heads, trying to deliver extraordinary stuff…
